No rules but we do have guidelines we may or may not follow:
---In January we begin the year with everyone in Dining Out assembling at a restaurant. At present count this means 106 persons. Small group dining (usually six to eight persons) occurs over the following four months in restaurants roughly bounded by Asheville, Landrum and Rutherfordton. In June the entire group again gets together and celebrates summer at an outdoor picnic. Over the following four months we are back to small group dining. We skip the two holiday months---November and December---and start again in the new year.
---Each month's dining-group leaders are in italics and bold print on the page showing small group assignments. These can be seen by clicking on the tab above called "Dining Groups." The other persons in a group are listed immediately below the leader's name.
---Each leader should contact others in their group as early in the month as feasible, hopefully no later than the 15th. She/he should propose a time(s) and place for dining that month and facilitate agreement among the group.
---If a date convenient to everyone cannot be found, simply go out as a smaller group or call Phyllis Wolfe to see if there are other people on the stand-by list. These will generally be new newcomers so you are encouraged to call so we can get everyone involved as quickly as possible.
---If you have not heard from your group leader by the 15th, please also call Phyllis so adjustments can be made.
---Variety is encouraged. Dining can be lunch as well as dinner and it can be tied into another activity such as going to the Flat Rock Playhouse, a visit to the North Carolina Arboretum or strolling to an ice cream parlor.
---If you are going to be out of town for a good portion of the month call the group leader and let them know. This will save the leader time and frustration.
